Residents catch suspected electricity cable thief in eMbalenhle
The residents were able to identify the suspect and his friends from a local business’ surveillance camera footage.
The community of Ward 12 in eMbalenhle apprehended a young man today ( July 13) whom they suspect of stealing electricity cables.
They took the suspect to the Govan Mbeki Municipality technical yard, demanding that the municipality open a case against him.
These community members told Ridge Times that they are daily faced with cable theft which leaves them without electricity.
The residents were able to identify the suspect and his friends from a local business’ surveillance camera footage.
The friends scattered when the community members approached them. The community is currently waiting for municipal officials to act.
