Man appears in court for murder of Bethal’s Bongani Mlambo

Mlambo's body was found along R35 to Middelburg on August 31, several days after being reported as missing.

Tsepo Mokoena (32) has today [September 1], appeared before the Bethal Magistrate in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Bongani Mlambo from Milan Park, eMzinoni.

Mlambo’s body was found along R35 to Middelburg on August 31, several days after being reported as missing.

Mlambo was last known to be at his residence in Milan Park, Emzinoni, between August 25 and 26.

According to the eMzinoni police, Mlambo’s colleagues became concerned after he failed to report for duty and could not be reached telephonically. A colleague then went to his residence to check on his whereabouts.

The colleague found both gates locked. When access to the property was gained, evidence was found that the garage door had been tampered with. Mlambo could not be found and his vehicle was not in the garage.

A vehicle tracking company recovered the vehicle in Middelburg. Mokoena is remanded in custody and his case is postponed to September 8, for a formal bail application.
