Police in eMbalenhle arrested a man today (September 22) who was sought as a person of interest in the murder of a 43-year-old woman in Extension 15, eMbalenhle, on September 20.

Police circulated a wanted poster yesterday, calling on the community to look out for Melusi Qhiniso Magagula, also known as “Bizza Mthombeni”.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Busisiwe Mthethwa, the circumstances surrounding the murder are still under investigation. Magagula was officially arrested today after community members came forward with information that assisted police in locating and apprehending him.

“The arrest once again demonstrates the importance of strong cooperation between the police and the communities they serve. Police cannot fight crime alone. Community members are the eyes and ears of the police, and their willingness to share information can make a significant difference in ensuring that suspects are brought before the courts and that justice takes its course,” said Mthethwa.

Magagula is expected to appear before the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Friday in connection with the murder charge.

Police urge community members to continue providing information about criminal activities through the appropriate channels and to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
