Cullinan SAPS bid a dedicated member farewell
In 2014, he started working as court orderly at the Cullinan Magistrates Court until the day of his retirement in 2020.
Employees and management of the Cullinan Police said their goodbyes to a trusted and beloved colleague, Warrant Officer Jan Lucky Mkhabela.
Mkhabela dedicated his time and service to the police for 33 years from 1989 until 2022.
He started his career in the police as Constable at the Silverton Police Station in July 1989 where he performed guard duties.
In 1990, he was transferred to the Mamelodi barracks where he served as a caretaker. Promotion to Sergeant followed in 1995 and until 1998, Mkhabela continued to perform his guarding duties at the barracks.
Mkhabela was transferred to the Mamelodi Police Station in 1999 as part of the Client Service Centre Personnel until 2009.

He was then transferred to the Cullinan Police in 2010. Here he performed the duties of a relief commander and was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer in 2012.
Mkhabela began working as a court orderly at the Cullinan Magistrate’s Court in 2014 until the day of his retirement.
“The Cullinan SAPS wish the now retired Mkhabela well with many more prosperous years for the rest of his life journey,” said Sergeant Connie Moganedi, corporate communication officer at the Cullinan Police Station.
The station bid Mkhabela farewell with the Irish quote: “May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.”
