Weather does not keep 51 parkrunners in Standerton at bay

A total of 13 people volunteered this week.

The overcast weather did not keep 51 participants on Saturday morning, October 29, from making their way past muddy puddles on the Standerton River Park parkrun route caused by the previous night’s rain.

Some ran, some jogged and others walked the 5km. People from all walks of life and different age groups took part.

Not even 21-month-old Gretha van Niekerk’s enthusiasm to gijima could be curbed. Altogether seven participants improved their personal best times and six people took part for the first time.

The first 10 finishers are Sifiso Siphamandla (18:37), Chuhla Phago (new personal best of 18:43), Johan Ferreira (new personal best time of 20:20), Kobus Koekemoer (new personal best of 24:45), Parth Jayram (26:38), Theo Schönfeldt (27:51), Deon Steynberg (27:57), Petra Fischer (28:16), Manana Sinethemba Nsika (28:32) and Desiree Prenzler (new personal best of 29:23).

The 13 volunteers who made this week’s parkrun possible, were Charl van Wyk, Christel Handford, Francois Streicher, Jennifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Krishnalal (Johnny) Ramdharee, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Marjorie Uys, Pomesan Govender, Priscilla Ramdharee, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg and Willy Smith.
