Secunda karatekas excel in championship

Members excel at championship in Ermelo.

Members of the Universal Shotokan Karate Union (USKU) club in Secunda excelled at the Mpumalanga provincial open invitational karate championship, held in Ermelo, on February 11.

The karatekas who excelled and obtained gold medals are Sensei Breshnev Dhlamini (senior men over 84kg kumite), Jordan Malaza (boys 8-9 yeas kumite), Owethu Sindane (boys 12-13 years kumite), Mpilo Radebe (boys cadet 14-15 years kumite), Yamkela Khakhusi (boys 13-14 years kumite) and Lutendo Netshavhazwaulu (girls 10-11 years kumite).

The silver and bronze medal winners are Jaden Malaza (second in boys 7-9 years kumite), Buhlebenkosi Nkosi (second in boys 10-11 years kumite), Luminathi Khakhusi (third in girls 7-9 years kata) and Snothile Yende (third in boys 7-9 years kumite).

The other karatekas who took part in the championship and obtained places are Hlelo Nkosi (fifth in boys 7-9 years kata), Solomuzi Khubeka (fifth in boys 7-9 years kumite), Sandakahle Dlamini (sixth in boys 7-9 years kumite) and Londile Sindane (fifth in girls 13-14 years kumite).

Some of these karatekas will now take part in the national championship that will be held in September.
