SACP marches to eMbalenhle Police Station
“You cannot go around eMbalenhle without seeing a police bakkie parked at a foreign tuck shop.”
The South African Communist Party (SACP) marched to eMbalenhle Police Station to hand over a memorandum on March 17.
Among the grievances mentioned in the document were the issues of the police station’s gates being closed at night, unfinalised cases and police visibility.
Jabulani Mthimkhulu, the party secretary in the Govan Mbeki Municipality subdistrict, accused the eMbalenhle police of prioritising the foreign national shops over the community.
“You cannot go around eMbalenhle without seeing a police bakkie parked at a foreign tuck shop, even if they claim they are busy with a complaint.

“What kind of complaint requires them to visit that shop every day and what is so special about that complaint that needs police attention every day?” asked Mthimkhulu.
“We must shout outside the police station at night because of the locked gate. How am I going to shout if I am being chased by criminals?
“That means I will die in front of the police station where I was supposed to be protected,” said Mthimkhulu.
They handed the memorandum to Colonel Bafana Dube, the eMbalenhle Crime prevention head, who promised to discuss it with management and respond in seven days, as stipulated.
