Secunda Hawks arrest two foreign nationals
Men appeared in Secunda Magistrate's Court on April 21 and again on April 24.
The Serious Corruption, Serious Commercial and Serious Organised Crime Units of the Hawks took hands with the Secunda K9 Unit, LCRC, Stratcon Security and HSC Security to raid the taxi rank in Evander on April 20.
They arrested two foreign nationals who allegedly approached a SPAR security guard in Secunda to organise stolen goods from SPAR’s storeroom to the value of R250 000 to be delivered to SPAR’s storerooms for payment of only R100 000.
The security guard reported the matter to his manager who contacted the Hawks for further investigation.
The Hawks’ spokesman, Captain Dineo Sekagoti, said entrapment was set to take place in Evander whereby the suspects were arrested during the delivery of the items.
The groceries, cash and the vehicle used were seized for further investigation. The suspects appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on April 21 and again on 24 April for the help of a language interpreter.
