Double murder suspect from eMbalenhle to reappear in court

The double murder case against Leloko Mapitsi will go to the high court.

The case against Leloko Mapitsi will go to the high court. The SAPS found two bodies in his room in eMbalenhle in February.

Mapitsi reappeared in the Evander Magistrate’s Court on June 21. He faces double murder charges after Phumzile Makoena’s body was found in his bed.

Mapitsi’s mother, Maleloko, alerted the police to a foul odour and flies coming from her son’s room. That was when the SAPS discovered her body.

She called the police after she could not get into the room.

Her son had locked the door and taken the key with him when he was arrested two days prior for breaking a restraining order and was still in police custody at the time of the discovery.

After discovering Makoena’s body, the police returned to Mapitsi’s room on February 18. To their shock, they found another body, Doctor Mofokeng, under the bed.

Police linked an old murder in Bloemfontein to their double murder case against Mapitsi. He will reappear on July 3 for a date to appear in the high court.
