Cullinan is protecting bees
“We should protect the bees and other pollinators. It would significantly contribute to solving problems related to food supply to eliminate hunger and halt the further loss of biodiversity and degradation of ecosystems in Ward 100,” explained Ward 100 Clr Johannes Bekker.
Although bees are celebrated annually in May and the honey bee worldwide in August, these much-needed honey makers have a particular month dedicated to them.
Ward 100 residents will do their best to protect the bees this month.
During July in Ward 100, Bee Month draws the residents’ attention to the importance of protecting bees and reminds people that humans depend on bees and other pollinators.
“We should protect the bees and other pollinators. It would significantly contribute to solving problems related to food supply to eliminate hunger and halt the further loss of biodiversity and degradation of ecosystems in Ward 100,” explained Ward 100 Clr Johannes Bekker.

“I will continue to draw attention to the essential role bees and other pollinators play in keeping people and Ward 100 healthy.”
Bekker said this was a chance for residents to promote actions that would protect and enhance pollinators and their habitats, improve their abundance and diversity, and support the sustainable development of beekeeping.
“Bee awareness in Ward 100 will shine a light on the habitat of pollinators to improve the conditions for their survival so that bees and other pollinators may thrive.”
The theme for this bee awareness during July is ‘Bee engaged in creating a pollinator-friendly environment’.
