Cops arrest gate motor thieves in Evander

Sergeant Zukiswa Mxhotjelwa, the Evander police spokesperson, said they received a tip-off about gate motor theft syndicates operating from the Marikana informal settlement in eMbalenhle.

The police in Evander arrested two people on September 12 for theft of gate motors.

According to Sergeant Zukiswa Mxhotjelwa, the Evander SAPS spokesperson, they received a tip-off about gate motor theft syndicates operating from the Marikana informal settlement in eMbalenhle.

Mxhotjelwa said the police found the suspects with three gate motors and arrested them. They charged one with possession of stolen goods and the other with theft.

Mxhotjelwa said the suspects would soon appear in court. The investigation continues.

The police urged residents to take extra safety precautions after a recent spike in gate motor thefts in Secunda.
