Man appears in court for murder of Leandra woman

She sustained multiple stab wounds.

A 35-year-old man appeared in the periodical court in Leandra on January 8 for the murder of a woman in Lebohang.

Betty Malinga (44) was reported missing on Christmas day and her body was found in constructed furrow at Ext 9 on January 3.

She sustained multiple stab wounds.

The police arrested Lucky Nkosi later that same day where he had been hiding at Extension 12.

The matter was postponed to January 15 and Nkosi is expected to apply for bail. He remains in custody until then.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned acts of gender-based violence and femicide.

The general further commended community members who positively worked with the state in support of the victims of this heinous crime.
