Parkrun returns to Bronkies

The volunteers who made this parkrun possible were André de Lange, Gonasagree Govender, Amish Rampersadh, Bhavna Rampersadh, Despina and Filia Rockas, Casper Strydom and Adri van Wyk.

Bronkhorstspruit hosted its first parkrun for the year on January 6. The parkrun is a free weekly 5km event for participants of all standards, young and old.

It offers a chance for the local community, regardless of age or gender, to come together regularly to enjoy the outdoors and be physically active.

People are encouraged to run, jog, walk and volunteer together. This event is open to all and is free.

Taking part is easy. Simply register before your first parkrun. Once registered, you can participate in the parkrun weekly.

Every week, the residents grab a post-parkrun coffee at Bronkiesbaai Restaurant or Art Café @ Anton Smit.

Age is just a number at the parkrun.

They chat with other parkrunners over a cup of tea or coffee and be a part of this community. Sixty-one people participated in the latest parkrun.

The first participant to finish was unregistered.

JP Bekker finished second in a time of 22:35, followed by Mikhail de Lange (26:16), Sue-Marie Oosthuysen (26:19), Brian Duthie (27:21), Louw Pretorius (28:08), Willem Botha (29:55), and Erhard Stoltz in ninth place with a time of 30:50.

Pretorius finished seventh in a time of 28:05.

The volunteers who made this parkrun possible were André de Lange, Gonasagree Govender, Amish Rampersadh, Bhavna Rampersadh, Despina and Filia Rockas, Casper Strydom and Adri van Wyk.
