eMbalenhle residents close tuck shops in after children fall ill from sweets

A case was opened at the police station.

Residents of Extention 4, eMbalenhle, closed down all tuck shops owned by foreigners in their area today (July 18).

This comes after reports of four children who fell ill after allegedly consuming sweets bought from a tuck shop on July 15.

The children were rushed to hospital.

According to Pretty Nkosi, secretary of the eMbalenhle Community Policing Forum (CPF), the decision to close all these tuck shop was taken after a meeting that was held today at the local soccer field.

Nkosi said a case was opened at the eMbalenhle police station.

The Ridge Times contacted the eMbalenhle police spokesperson, Constable Busi Mthethwa, but she was unable to comment.
