Striking industrial image captures top honours at photography club

The Hoëveld Photography Club's next meeting will take place on October 9 at 18:00 for 18:30 at Scrum Inn at the Sasol Recreation Club.

Members of the Hoëveld Photography Club showcased their creativity during the club’s monthly meeting on September 4, with photographers receiving awards for outstanding images in the evening’s “Industrial” set-subject competition.

The guest speaker and judge was Wouter Labuschagne from the Midlens Photo Club in Middelburg. The monthly winner in the set-subject category was Danie Smit for his photograph Sasol.

Smit also received certificates of merit for Dublin in the scapes category and Dublin Harp and Barrel in pictorial.

The best senior photographer of the month was Sussa Pelser for Very Misty Morning in the scapes category.

The monthly winner in the best junior category was Ina Annandale for In the Eye of the Tiger in the pictorial category.

She also received certificates of merit for Glass Bloom (monochrome), Kosmoskind (pictorial) and Twee Vensters Een Siel (pictorial).

Certificates of merit were also awarded to the following photographers: Robert Cohoe for Maintenance (nature – birds only), Upside Down (pictorial) and Sasol at Six (set subject); Louis van der Walt for Tugela River 1 (scapes); Leon Pelser for My Comfort Zone (monochrome); Lorraine Botha for Sibling Hyenas Playing (nature); Johan Viljoen forLion King (nature); and Carien Schabort for Bubbly Colours, New Beginning and Slithering Along (all pictorial).
