Tutela in Secunda invites community to AGM

Attend the meeting on October 29.

Tutela Family Care Secunda is inviting local businesses, community leaders, stakeholders, donors, churches and the public to its annual general meeting at the NG Kerk Secunda Oos, 19 Lategan Street, on October 29.

The meeting will give the community a chance to learn more about Tutela’s work in protecting children, strengthening families and supporting vulnerable people.

Tutela is a community-based non-profit organisation with roots dating back to 1932.

Its services include child protection, prevention and early intervention, family preservation, statutory social work, family reunification, counselling and trauma support, community empowerment and poverty alleviation.

Tutela Family Care Secunda serves vulnerable children, individuals and families in Secunda and surrounding areas, including Kinross, Charl Cilliers, Holfontein, Syferfontein and farming communities.

Social workers conduct home visits, assist families in crisis, attend schools and court proceedings, and work with other organisations and professionals to support those in need.

The organisation says community partnerships are essential, with businesses able to assist through sponsorships, skills, equipment, services, volunteering, fundraising, food and essential goods.

Tutela faces increasing demand for its services while operating with limited resources.

Government funding primarily supports social worker salaries, leaving additional costs such as transport, fuel, electricity, administration, maintenance and equipment to be covered through fundraising and donations.

Community members are encouraged to attend the meeting, meet the Tutela team and learn how they can contribute to supporting vulnerable children and families.
