Missing manhole covers

I walk into town on a regular basis and I am surprised at the number of covers missing from manholes.

Two of them are of particular concern to me.

Those are on a well used footpath by the side of house no.2, Danie Theron Street, Secunda.

Those two holes are at least 3 metres deep and are potential death traps as a person who is unaware of them could injure themselves badly.

Children also use the same footpath and one could easly fall inside and be missing as no one would know where they are.

The smell from these open sewer manhole is appalling and becomes a health hazard.

Myself and a neighbour have reported this to the municipality using the call centre, but no action was been taken.

Hopefully by you printing this letter, it will bring some action from the municipality.

Prevention is better than cure.
