Council does not accept bank-guaranteed cheque

License staff apparently rude.

We as a business company went to the municipality offices for the renewal of a license after being to the bank for a bank guaranteed cheque for the renewal of the license.

You sit in a long queue for almost an hour, the service is poor and there are not enough staff members to help.

When it is busy they decide to go on lunch, though many people are still in the queue.

I came to the counter to be helped and the person was very rude and said Council does not accept any cheques.

I told the woman it was a bank guaranteed cheque, but she said they only accept cash or card.

Now I want to know, as a business that has to renew truck licenses, must we walk around with R17 000?

The cheque was guaranteed by the bank so they must accept it.

Also the forms that need to be filled in are a waste of time.

The renewal notices arrived late due to problems at the post office.

This matter needs to be solved.

Concerned business owner.
