Bethal Bears wins again

Their next match is on Saturday, 24 October against Piet Retief in Piet Retief.

BETHAL – Bethal Bears Cricket Club recently played their second league match against Emba Cricket club and won by four runs.

Bethal won the toss and decided to bat first.

Leon Parsons with 77 and George Plowman with 61 runs were the best batsmen.

Bethal scored a total of 220 runs.

Emba went in to bat and began well, but Bethal bowled well to restrict their run rate.

Siyabonga Mtsweni with 3/30 in 10, Lungelo Mtshali with 2/39 in 7 and Tiaan du Preez with 1/18 in 10 were outstanding with the ball in hand.

Emba needed 11 runs of the last 2 overs to win, but Bethal only conceded seven runs.

“The players showed a lot of character and composure in the dying moments of the game.

I am very proud of the effort,” said Siyabonga Mtsweni, captain.

The Bethal Bears’s third league match against Musikaligwa Warriors was cancelled due to the rain.

Their next match will be on Saturday, 24 October against Piet Retief at Piet Retief.
