Mpumalanga hosts 8-ball pool championship

The sport takes the youth off the streets.

SECUNDA – Pool Billiards South Africa is presenting the Eight-ball National Pool Championship at Graceland Hotel and Country Club from 24 April until 17 May.

Players from all provinces take part in the different categories.

The South African |Women’s Eight-ball Championship took place from 24 to 29 April, the SA Wheelchair Championship from 30 April to 1 May and the SA Seniors and Masters Championship from 1 May until 7 May.

The Public Relations Officer of Pool Billiards South Africa, Ms Anya Roux, said they have four tournaments annually and the players who get selected, will take part in the world championship in England.

The SA Junior Championship will take place in October.

“This is the most played sport that aims at getting more people, especially the youth, off the street and taking part in pool,” said Ms Roux.

She said Pool Billiards South Africa supports Orange Friday by saying no to drugs.
