Kinross Pirates wins the tournament
Coach pleas with municipality to assist with sportsground.
KINROSS – Local soccer teams played a tournament from 30 April until 2 May.
Its aimed was to keep the youth off the street and away from substance and drug abuse.
Kinross Pirates’ coach said they have tournaments every weekend to develop young players and to keep them busy rather than letting them roam the streets.
He pleaded with the municipality and local councillors to assist them with sports facilities.
The sports ground that they are currently using, is temporary and they cannot upgrade it because a school is going to be built there.
The netball team uses the same ground and they could not play because of the soccer tournament.
The young players, of who most do not have soccer boots, play barefeet and there are stones in the ground which make it difficult for them to show their full potential.
The finals were between Kinross Pirates and Vultures FC after Stella Stars and Thistle Grove lost in the semi finals.
Pirates and Vultures had a two all draw which led to penalties.
Kinross won 8-6.
Their coach, Mr Jeremiah (Morimo) Dlamini said the Man of the Match of his team was the goalkeeper, Siboniso Ndlovu.
