Provincial Cross country team will be selected
The Cross Country running season has started and athletes are urged to participate in the weakly leagues to ensure eligibility for the provincial team.

HIGHVELD – The Cross Country running season is in full swing and many athletes are continually improving as they take part in the different leagues.
The recent Cambridge League, held at Cambridge College on 30 April, saw 287 athletes competing and the feedback from the organisers and athletes who took part was positive.
Although the feedback received from the Great East League was also positive, the attendance at this league was lower.
The selection of the Mpumalanga team will take place on 28 May and athletes who are attending the Comrades Marathon will be selected on their previous 2016 league times.
The Inter Provincial Championship will take place at Curro School in eMalahleni, but no date has been set yet.
No further information is available yet, but this championship will count as a league, because Mpumalanga is hosting the meeting.
All athletes, even those who were not selected for the Mpumalanga team, are encouraged to attend the race.
The leagues and venues for 14 May are Nkangale, Highveld Pumas (Delmas) with a morning programme, and Gert Sibande, Sasol Athletic Club at Secunda Stadium, also with a morning programme.
Athletes are urged to take part in the various leagues as participation in the Mpumalanga Championships which will be held in August and are conditional upon participation of at least four leagues before the championships.
