Christo van der Mescht wins with 41 points.

EVANDER – Christo van der Mescht with 41 points won the men’s A division at Walker Park Golf Club’s Sanlam Cancer Challenge on Saturday, 4 June.

B division – I du Preez with 43 points won the B division and JP Kleynhans with 38 points the C division.

Eurika Bodenstein with 36 points won the women’s B division and Gae Burger with 29 points the C division.

This challenge is South African golf’s biggest charity drive in the fight against cancer and already kicked this year off at various golf clubs with the aim to beat more than R3.5-m raised last year.

Since its launch in 1993, the Sanlam Cancer Challenge has made great strides in creating awareness and raising funds for Cansa to conduct research, educate the public and provide support.

The challenge has drawn more than 40 000 players countrywide in over 800 club competitions.

The winners of the regional finals that will be played from July to August, will qualify for the national finals to be played on both the Gary Player Country Club and Lost City Golf Club courses at Sun City from 9 to 12 October.
