Seniors citizens compete in Golden Games

Teams that will represent Lekwa Municipality in the Gert Sibande regional games were selected on the day

Seniors citizen competed in different sporting codes as part of the Golden Games at the Sakhile Stadium on 13 July.

According to Ms Dorka Thibela, social auxiliary worker, the Department of Social Development partnered with the Lekwa Municipality in this event.

She said the department has a programme called Active Aging which forms part of the Golden Games.

“The programmes focuses on training senior citizens at elderly clubs,” Ms Thibela also said.

They are trained in different sporting codes including duck walk, passing the ball, ring the stick, jukskei, goal shooting, ball pass and kick, rugby throw, dress up and soccer.
