Young gymnasts enjoy the challenge
The Mpumalanga Gymnastic trials took place in Ermelo on 12 August.
SECUNDA – Two young gymnasts from Sasol Secunda Gymnastic Club participated in the Mpumalanga Gymnastic trials in Ermelo on 12 August.
Henro Fourie and Steyn le Roux have only been doing gymnastics for a year and competed in Level 1.
These young athletes are motivated and enjoy the challenge of gymnastics.
Both achieved Mpumalanga Junior Colours in artistic gymnastics and will be participating in the North Zone Challenge that will take place in Kempton Park this coming weekend.
Le Roux (8) achieved a score of 9.4 on the vault, 8.9 on the low bar, 8.5 on the parallel bar and 9.1 on the floor.
These scores placed him in first position for all four disciplines and with an overall score of 8.97.
He won an overall gold in his age group.
Fourie (7) achieved a score of 7.8 on parallel bars, 8.4 on the low bar, 8.7 on the vault and 8.0 on the floor.
He won a bronze medal for his performance on the low bar in his particular age group and had an overall score of 8.22.
