KINROSS – Roman Stars claimed victory during a soccer tournament on Sunday, 4 September.
Their first game was against the former champions, TW Stene.
TW Stene’s goalkeeper did a great job of trying to stop the goals from entering their net, but that did not stop Roman Stars from scoring three goals.
The first goal was scored by Nathi Mahlangu in the first half and Thokozani Xaba scored two goals in the second half.
The score was 3-0 in favour of Roman Stars.
TW Stene’s coach, Mr Thabo Mokoena, said they had a fair game, but that their loss was due to some of the players not playing.
“We took the crown two weeks ago when we played against Porto FC and Spain and we beat each team 2-0,” said Mokoena.
Roman Stars’ coach, Mr Sizwe Ntsizwa, said they also struggled with players and had to begin the game with seven players until he sourced some of their young players to fill the vacant positions.
He also said that it was a fair game.
Spain emerged as the winner in their match against Porto FC which ended in penalties.
Thabo Mbatha scored the goal for Spain and Thabo Nhlabathi scored for Porto. Spain won.
The final game was between Roman Stars and Spain.
Thokozani Xaba scored the first goal for Roman Stars and was followed by Nathi Mahlangu who scored the second goal.
Spain’s striker, Okonkwo, missed several goals.
Roman Stars won 2-0.
