SECUNDA – Graceland Hotel Casino and Country Club played host to the Volksrust and Standerton golf club teams on 11 September.
The Graceland team celebrated a convincing victory over the two visiting teams, with a final foursome scores of 7-1 against Standerton and 6-2 against Volksrust.
Standerton beat Volksrust with 6-2.
The pairs of Theo Odendaal and Chris Mahlangu, Rassie Erasmus and Quintin King, Martin Odendaal and Daniel Nyathela won their respective matches for Graceland, and Mitch Kock and Erick Nkosi split their match with Ruan Botha and Jaco Sutherland of Standerton.
In the foursome match against Volksrust, three of the four pairs from Graceland won their matches, with only Martin Odendaal and Daniel Nyathela conceding their points to Heindrich Prinsloo and Alex Pieterse.
In the singles, the Graceland team once again beat Standerton with 7-1 and Volksrust with 6-2.
Standerton beat Volksrust in the singles competition with 6-2.
This was the first match of the 2016 Gross League and the next match will take place on Sunday, 25 September but the venue still has to be confirmed.
The Gross League differs from the Nett League in that all team members play without handicaps.
