Lekwa City FC draws against Remember FC

Lekwa City FC came back with an equaliser through Bongani Sithole and had another chance to wrap it, in winning style, through a penalty.

Lekwa City FC played to a 1-1 draw against Remember FC from eMbalenhle at the Sakhile Stadium on Sunday, 16 February at 1pm.

No goal was scored by both sides till half time, but in the first few minutes of the second half, Remember FC scored to lead by 1-0.

Lekwa City FC came back with an equaliser through Bongani Sithole and had another chance to wrap it, in winning style, through a penalty.

Mthokozisi Shabangu however, just kicked the ball straight to the Remember FC goalkeeper.

According to the team, they wanted to win at all cost, but Lady Luck was not on their side and they missed nearly nine clear opportunities.

Lekwa City FC now stands on 49 points after 15 wins and four draws, 11 points ahead of Young Highlanders FC, another local team who occupies the second spot.

Lekwa City is travelling to eMbalenhle to play against Matapula’s FC on Sunday, 23 February. They have recruited Oupa Radebe to strengthen the technical team consisting of Phumalni Twala, after Sibusiso Mahlamba has been moved from assistant coach to team manager.

Oupa Radebe is a former PSL-player and the team is of the opinion that he will add value to Lekwa City FC, in winning the SAB-league.
