Businessman hosts soccer tournament for the elderly in eMbalenhle

eMBALENHLE – A local businessman chose to give back to the community in a unique way of organising sport events for the elderly.

Mr Monde Nqiwa recently hosted a soccer tournament for the elderly where four teams competed.

He said it s important to ensure senior citizens remain active and physically fit.

This reduces the risk of conditions like heart disease, strokes and some forms of cancer.

“Other benefits include the fact that those who are more active are far less prone to suffering with depression and loneliness.

“The elderly face many challenges and thought sport can help reduce the stress and anxiety.

“These activities keep them busy and give them time to socialise.

“We will do more events of this kind.”
