Team from Mpumalanga takes third place at Cherry Bowls

A perfect eight is a full house that can be compared to a hole-in-one in golf.

HIGHVELD – Boasting with a perfect eight, the team of local bowls player, Lanie Nel, ensured their third place at the national Cherry Festival Tournament held at Ficksburg from 17 to 19 November.

Nel and his teammates Charl Christensen, Gavin Shoobert and Owen Meretdith won cash for their third position amongst the 20 participating teams.

This was the 37th Cherry Bowls Tournament which annually attracts players from over South Africa.

According to Nel, a perfect eight is a full house that can be compared to a hole-in-one in golf.

A full-house can also be achieved when three players score nine off three balls each.

A perfect game is the highest score possible in a game of bowling, achieved by striking in every frame.

This is indeed something rare to witness.

Nel is from Secunda and his teammates hail from Witbank, Lydenburg and Nelspruit.
