64 participants get some exercise at parkrun in Standerton
A special event will be held on Freedom Day, Wednesday, April 27 at the usual time.
You can either run, jog, walk or volunteer at weekly parkruns and Standerton is no exception.
Standerton River Park hosts this free event every Saturday at 8:00.
A free registration form needs to be completed only once, and a barcode printed, for your time in the 5km to be recorded.
Participants compete against themselves at the parkrun, although some athletes do their utmost to cross the finish line first.
Saturday, April 2 however, belonged to the youngsters.
Siphesihle Jimmy Junior crossed the finish line first in a time of 22 min 33 sec, followed by two young participants, who have not registered
Junior Mudau ended in fourth place in 25 min 48 sec, completing his 25th event and Johan Ferreira was fifth in 27 min 56 sec.
Parth Jayram and Brendan Archer both reached the 50-milestone and ended in the sixth and seventh place respectively.
Al total of 64 participants lined up where eight personal best times were recorded and one first-timer arrived.
