Highveld Ball Tournament kicks off in Bapsfontein
The game of kings had eight teams playing for the tournament trophy.
A great game of kings was played at the Rocking Four Polo Club in Bapsfontein on Saturday, April 30.
The Highveld Ball Tournament took place with eight teams competing in a zero goal section.
This tournament was founded this year and surprisingly it drew the attention of many members.
“It normally takes a few years for a tournament to get established and it was great to have the whole club participate. It was a lovely turnout for a first-year tournament and hopefully next year it just grows to be much bigger,” said event planner Duncan Lowe.
The winning team known as the Dubai polo team won the tournament trophy.
The runner up team, Scone, also kicked the year off with a trophy.
The most valuable player, Bayley Evans was also awarded and even the best playing pony, Alaska, owned by Harry Evans also received a prize.
“Initially it was planned to be a start of the season function for everybody similar to a black-tie event, but we ended up having a wonderful friendly tournament,” concluded Lowe.
