Sasol Digi Mag’s first rugby team beats Middelburg

Jandre Matthee and Anwar Fillis were crowned men of the match

Sasol Digi Mag Rugby Club’s first and second teams competed against Middelburg on Saturday, May 7.

Although Sasol 2 put on a great effort, Middelburg beat them with a final score of 31-10.

Sasol 1’s match took off to a great start and had an ending with Sasol 1 beating Middelburg 49-7.

Tries were scored by Brandon Potgieter, Jandre Matthee, Wiehan van der Merwe, Anwar Fillis, Dirk Lowies, Dirk Coetzer and Devan van Eeden.

Van Eeden scored two tries for Sasol Digi Mag 1.

Marinus van der Merwe scored a penalty while Coetzer succeeded in three conversions.

PJ van Zyl took the biggest hit of the match with Jandre Matthee and Anwar Fillis crowned men of the match.

It was amazing to see the fans back in the stands and cheering both teams on.

Organisers thanked the supporters who came out to support all teams.

Next weekend both teams tackle Newcastle for their first away game of the season.
