Three Swords Dojo returns to Standerton after championships

South Africa beat Botswana convincingly who was in second position, with 46 medals.

Sensei Jannie Degenaar from Three Swords Dojo recently returned in good spirits from the 19th African Sports Council Region Federation Championships.

South Africa ended in first position after receiving 194 medals made up of 63 gold, 49 silver and 82 bronze.

This prestigious championship was held at the Greyville Race Course in Durban.

South Africa beat Botswana convincingly who was in second position, with 46 medals.

At the official opening ceremony the Saturday, Reney Raven from the club, demonstrated her kata in the para-karate division, watched by at least 500 spectators.

Raven took a trophy home after her performance.

“Each country could only have four participants in each category,” Degenaar said.

He said he will now focus on training his karateka and no longer compete individually.
