Participants at parkrun in Standerton show their mettle

Lara Pretorius completed the distance in a time of 26:28, followed by Wikus Pretorius in 30:09.

A total of 17 participants were in action at the parkrun on Saturday, June 25 and braved the mist and rain falling softly, to take on the 5km distance.

Volunteers waited on athletes and the event began at the Standerton River Park per usual at 8:00.

Rain puddles had to be negotiated along the route.

Lara Pretorius completed the distance in a time of 26:28, followed by Wikus Pretorius in 30:09.

Nitin Daya’s time was 34:32, Charl van Wyk’s 37:24 and Sangeeta Daya reached the finish line in 38:36.

Charmain Kleynhans, Christel Handford, Frans Vermaak, Johannes Vosloo, JP Kleynhans, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Jean Robertson, Renette de Sousa, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg and Wikus Fourie facilitated a smooth event.
