Sasol crowns champs of social league in Govan Mbeki municipal area

Teams who won the first prizes received soccer or netball kits, gold medals, soccer balls or netball balls and a floating trophy.

Sasol held its annual social league prize-giving ceremony at eMbalenhle Sasol Club on Saturday, June 18.

According to Sasol, the company adopted the social league some years ago in which different teams, including schools, compete.

These include all Govan Mbeki Municipality soccer and netball teams from Bethal, eMzinoni, Leandra, Kinross and eMbalenhle.

Teams who won the first prizes received soccer or netball kits, gold medals, soccer balls or netball balls and a floating trophy.

“Teams need to defend these trophies for three years and if they become champions for those years, they will keep that trophy for good.

“As a company, we want to mobilise more clubs to participate in this league because we realised that there is more talent out there.

“We must allow everyone to showcase their talents and make sure that resources are available in all of our recreation facilities,” said Johannes Nkosi, manager of eMbalenhle Sasol Club.

Champions for Bethal U/15 social league are soccer is Mighty Ezenkosi FC who played 22 games and won 16 with 53 points.

Bethal schools’ netball league U/12 champions are Thandanani Primary School who played five games and won five with 10 points, while the Bethal senior netball league championship was scooped by the Future Stars NC who also won
all games with 16 points.

Kinross A NC is the new netball champion in the eMbalenhle netball social league after they played 12 games, won 11 and got 22 points.

The teams who came second and third were also rewarded with soccer and netball balls and medals.
