Security officer in court in Secunda

Matter is postponed for further investigation.

A 21-year-old man appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on March 1 on a charge of murder.

The matter was postponed to April 4, pending further investigation.

It is alleged that the suspect, a security officer at a local security company, shot a man on Nelson Mandela Drive on the morning of November 23.

The victim was treated and taken to a hospital by ER24, where he died from his injuries.

The security officer also sustained injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

He was taken into police custody on the same day as the shooting.

According to the police, the firearm used in the incident belongs to the security company that employed the security official.

The circumstances of the shooting and what led to it are under investigation. The police are still trying to determine the deceased’s identity.
