Runners compete in Evander Half Marathon
The men’s winner in the 21.1km race was Mandla Nkambinde with a time of 1:11:15.
The Evander Athletics Club hosted their first half marathon in Evander on Saturday, August 6.
Runners took off at 07:00 in the morning from Evander High School in a 21.1km or 10km race.
The men’s winner in the 21.1km race is Mandla Nkambinde with a time of 1:11:15.
Never Mahlangu finished second in a time of 1:11:44 and third was Lebohang Matima with a time of 1:13:44.
Lou-Ann Smit was the women’s winner in the 21.1km race with a time of 1:30:44.
She was followed by Wendy Bosch in second place clocking in at 1:43:06 and Elzette Pretorius in third place with a time of 1:43:08.
In the 10km race, Musawenkosi Mnisi claimed first place with a time of 33:07.
Mpho Dieko claimed second place in the 10km with a time of 35:08. He was followed by Jethro Sithole finishing at 35:11.
In the women’s division of the 10km race, Michelle Parkes clocked in with a time of 43:49.
She was followed by second place Siphokazi Nhlapho with a time of 46:17 and third place Liane Parkes finishing at 46:57.
