Runners in Secunda compete in Spar Women’s Virtual Challenge

More than 40 participants took part in the virtual race with Lou-Ann Smit taking first place.

Runners competed in the Spar Women’s Virtual Challenge consisting of a 10km race on Saturday, September 3 and then went on to compete in a 5km Parkrun straight afterwards.

Best friends Inge-Ann Marais and Zelmarie van der Merwe finished in second and third place.

The following sponsors were thanked: 5 Star Spar, Perfect Water, Secunda Food, Secunda Mall, Bidvest Prestige Cleaning, Dynamic Vision, Cappuccinos and the Slender Slimming Clinic.

The runners then went on to take part in the 5km parkrun where 204 participants walked, jogged or ran the course.

14 first-timers were welcomed to the Secunda South Africa parkrun family.

The women who placed first, second and third are Nthabiseng Mphethi, Zelmarie van der Merwe and Inge-Ann Marais.

The first, second and third place winners for the men were Reuel Jefferies, Jean-Paul Henin and Ian Heath.
