BETHAL – The Hit Factory Records has produced many number one Afrikaans Albums and proudly introduces PJ Cruz.
“Te goed om waar te wees” is Cruz’s national debut album and certainly commands respect. The music communicates with an inclusive Afrikaans audience with his husky voice.
PJ is an attractive man and with his charming personality, a bright future certainly awaits PJ in the South African music industry.
He wrote a few of his own songs on this album, but harnessed the talents of other writers such as Christoph Kotze, Ampie du Preez and Johan Oberholzer as well.
Headed by producer, Murray Lubbe, this album promises a unique debut with an exclusive sound that will certainly speak to the Afrikaans public.
This has already been proven with his performances in London and South Africa, as part of LondonGoesSA and SAGoesLondon, where he shared the stage with some of South Africa’s top artists.
He was born in Bethal on 5 January 1977.
He attended Primary Kallie de Haas and Wagpos Brits, as well as Morgenzon High School.
He grew up in a musical family that exposed him to various music styles.
This exposure added to his unique style.
At school he excelled in sport on provincial level and his love for music was set aside at first, but at the age of 25, after spending a year in London, he decided to teach himself to play guitar, a decision he has not regretted for one day.
He wrote his first song and realised once again that his true passion was music.
His solo career began and soon he had many faithful followers.
PJ is an established artist and songwriter whose popularity increases on a daily basis with more than a thousand performances and 100 songs from his pen.
In 2010 he was in the 10 in the Huisgenoot Tempo song writing competition.
Highlights in his career include performances at Innibos, LondonGoesSA at the Apollo Theatre, Hammersmith London and SAGoesLondon at Carnival City.
His hobbies include hunting, golf, deep sea fishing and any sport.
His favourite artist is Neil Diamond and any other country musicians.
PJ currently lives in Pretoria and dreams of singing the National Anthem at Loftus.
A dream that will hopefully materialize in the near future.
PJ was also a guest on Jukebox and on Toks & Tjops.
