Occasionally headaches are a warning sign for serious disease.
Here are the red flags:
1. You are over 40 and never had recurring headaches before.
2. Headaches have changed location.
3. Headaches are getting stronger.
4. Headaches are coming more frequently.
5. Headaches do not fit a recognisable pattern, ie: there seems to be nothing that triggers them.
6. Headaches have begun to disrupt your life; you’ve missed work on several occasions.
7. Headaches are accompanied by neurological symptoms, such as numbness, dizziness, blurred vision or memory loss.
8. Headaches coincide with other medical problems.
