Gordon road: a smash and grab hot spot

Drivers who travel on Gordon road are urged to be cautious when stopping at traffic lights as the road seems to be a smash and grab hot spot.

Communication Officer at the Florida SAPS Captain Lydia Dikolomela warns that the Florida police are experiencing a series of smash and grab cases at 14th Avenue at an On-ramp and an off-ramp under the bridge and at Gordon Road on the bridge between 6 am and 7 am and during the afternoon between 5pm and 7pm.

“Incidents usually take place when drivers stop at the red traffic lights.”

Drivers are requested to curb the smash and grab by practising the following hints:

• Refrain from putting valuables and other things on the car seats e.g. cellphones, laptops, hand bags etc
• Put them out of sight, under the car seat or in the boot of the car
• Be alert and vigilant at all times while driving at the traffic lights and stop streets
• Report any suspicious activity

“Remember, smash and grab can occur anywhere at any time,” warns Dikolomela.
