Preliminary voting results

Your votes have been cast in the municipal elections that took place on 3 August and now everyone is anxiously waiting for the results.

With only a small percentage of the votes counted so far, here are some of the preliminary results:

– The City of Joburg sees the DA in first place, with 45 per cent of the votes. The ANC is second with 39 per cent and the EFF is third with nine per cent.

– Of the eight wards in Roodepoort, six have been counted and show the DA in the lead. Wards 83, 127 and 128 have not been counted yet.

– In Ward 70, the DA has 78 per cent of the votes. The ANC has 14 per cent, and the EFF three per cent.

– In Ward 71, the DA has 56 per cent of the votes. The ANC has 28 per cent, the EFF 10 per cent and the FF+ two per cent.

– Ward 82 sees the DA pulling in 55 per cent of the votes. The ANC has 31 per cent, while the EFF has five percent.

– In Ward 84, the DA has 80 per cent of the votes. The ANC pulled in 10 per cent of the votes, with the EFF garnering four per cent.

– The DA has 86 per cent of the votes in Wasrd 85. The ANC has seven per cent, with the FF+ scoring two per cent.

National results so far:

– Buffalo City in the Eastern Cape: ANC 50 per cent, DA 36 per cent and EFF six per cent.

– City of Cape Town: DA 71 per cent, ANC 19 per cent and EFF two per cent.

– Ekhurhuleni Municipality: DA 44 per cent, ANC 42 per cent and EFF seven per cent.

– Manguang Bloemfontein: ANC 50 per cent, DA 29 per cent and EFF seven per cent.

– Nelson Mandela Bay local municipality: DA 53 per cent, ANC 35 per cent and EFF four per cent.

– City of Tshwane: DA 46 per cent, ANC 40 per cent and the EFF nine per cent.
