Parts of Welties are without water due to pipeline damage

He blamed Maziya General Services for the damage to the water supply.

Parts of Weltevreden Park are suffering massively after being without water for almost 18 hours.

The Panorama Residents Association chairperson, Dave Baxter, said that Extensions 29 and 30 of Weltevreden Park were affected by the incident.

He blamed Maziya General Services for the damage to the water supply.

“It’s almost 18 hours now without water. I cannot imagine the thousands of litres that have gone to waste,” he complained.

Ward 126 councillor, David Brand, confirmed that the damage was caused by Maziya while they were busy moving a pipe.

“Johannesburg Water (JW) is working on getting the water out first in order to get to the leak and then undertake repairs. Repairs should be done this afternoon,” he explained.

The water supply might take a little while to be restored, since the pipe had to be drained before the repairs could commence, Brand cautioned.
