City Power team to address low-hanging cables issue

Unfortunately, City Power could not do anything due to the rain.

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena has informed the Northsider today (Friday, 7 February) that they are in the process of attending to the low-hanging power cables on Nic Diederichs Road in Wilgeheuwel.

Parts of Little Falls, Wilgeheuwel and Struben’s Valley should be affected.

BCI Security at the scene.

Last night, Thursday, 6 February, heavy rainfall damaged the insulators on a pylon, causing overhead cables to hang extremely low and pose a risk to motorists.

Unfortunately, City Power could not do anything immediately due to the rain.

“The repair team needs to climb in order to effect repairs. It’s unsafe for them at night, thus repairs will commence during the day,” Ward 97 councillor Leah Knott said on Facebook.

As a temporary precaution, BCI Security hung strips of emergency tape to warn motorists about the danger ahead.
