Little Miss SA lends a helping hand
With Covid-19 stripping away the livelihoods of many, the 10-year-old has made it her mission for September to collect non-perishable goods to help the heavily affected, especially those who had lost their jobs.
Charitable Little Miss South Africa 2020, Mariéla Romanelli has been extremely busy since lockdown by doing her bit to make a difference in her community.
The Grade 4 King’s School West Rand learner embarked on various projects in a bid to save the world while helping the needy around her in the process. At the beginning of lockdown, this multi-pageant winner started off with a drive to collect socks, which she distributed to those in need. When she felt this was not enough, she moved on to collect recyclables to sell.
“She collected tins, glass and plastic to save Mother Earth from pollution,” her proud mother, Marisa said.
The smart young model then traded the items at a recycling business and used the money to help baby sanctuaries and other institutions with funds for basic necessities.

She also plans on putting together food parcels, specifically for car guards at different locations in Gauteng.
