Truck crushes woman leaving her in critical condition

Woman spends over an hour trapped inside her vehicle while respondents cut her free

A women is in a critical condition after a truck collided with two cars on the 14th Avenue slip lane off the N1 highway on Thursday 10 September.

Believed to be in her 30s, the woman was found trapped in her vehicle after the truck had tipped over and crushed the car below. She spent over an hour entombed in her vehicle as emergency responders were forced to utilise specialised rescue equipment to pry her free. “Once freed, she was assessed and found to be in a critical condition. She was treated and provided with advanced life support interventions,” stated ER24 Communications Officer, Russel Meiring.

Once stabilised at the scene, the woman was transported to Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital. Local authorities attended the scene and are investigating the incident.
