Gearing up for a clutter-free and healthy spring
Justine encouraged viewers to find a few days to go through areas in their homes that need decluttering and to put items onto four piles – keep, give to charity, sell and discard.
Despite the inclement weather on Spring Day, Hirsch’s managed to find a way to emphasise the ethos of the season with an informational Zoom session hosted by Margaret Hirsch recently.
The session included two speakers – organic farmer and horticulturists Kerry Jordan, and Justine Snyman, a decluttering queen with Watch This Space.
They were also joined by Richard Hirsch, CEO of the Hirsch’s Group who discussed outdoor furniture ideas, which locally made furniture is trending right now, and how to keep furniture clean and dust free.
Justine encouraged viewers to find a few days to go through areas in their homes that need decluttering and to put items onto four piles – keep, give to charity, sell and discard.
She has helped people to let go of items that they may have held onto for years, but that are cluttering up space.
“Start the season off with a spring in your step and declutter your space,” she stressed.
On the other hand, Kerry explained the importance of planting out seedlings in healthy soil.
“It’s so important to put nutrition back into the earth. Right now, plants are under stress and they, like you, need TLC. Feed, water and keep them healthy and they, in turn, will keep you healthy,” she advised.
She also advised what to plant right now, and rocket, celery, spinach, root vegetables and herbs made her list. “Make sure that they have plenty of sunshine and water three times a week, and you’ll be well rewarded,” she said.
