Former Mr South Africa and West Pack keep SPCA bellies full
Armand and West Pack identified the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA as a local charity vulnerable to the fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic and the animal custodians were naturally delighted with the donation.
Some say animals are able to sense the light in their human counterparts. If so, the hounds and felines of the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA will be glowing in the selfless reflection of inner beauty.
The West Rand Adonis, Armand du Plessis, continues to promote the suburbs dear to his heart with his humanitarian efforts. In partnership with Petzone by West Pack Lifestyle, he handed over a R40 000 donation of animal food on 19 September. The donation was one of the single largest this branch of the SPCA has received, and included 2 645kg dog dry pellets, 480kg cat dry pellets, 100kg poultry food, over 100 tins of mixed cat and dog food, topped off with 10 boxes of gravy.

Armand and West Pack identified the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA as a local charity vulnerable to the fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic and the animal custodians were naturally delighted with the donation. “We are really very grateful and appreciative for the fantastic donation of food from West Pack. This should last us a good couple of months, especially the dog food,” said Manager Mandy Cattanach.
Petzone is a flourishing animal-focused offshoot of the popular home, storage and accessories retailer. “Petzone was welcomed into the West Pack Lifestyle family in 2017 and has since grown into South Africa’s largest chain of pet stores with 25 standalone branches, four of which are located on the West Rand, namely Krugersdorp, Little Falls, Wilrogate and Constantia Kloof,” said Genevieve Da Silva, West Pack Lifestyle Media Liaison.

A seasoned champion, Armand had the Mr Krugersdorp, Mr Roodepoort and Mr South Africa titles around his shoulder before taking a crack at the Mr World event in 2016. Now, having just completed his master’s degree, the legal eagle focuses on family law when not supporting the vulnerable, saying, “It is important that we look after local brands to uplift our communities. It is important that we never stop giving back.”
