Three-year-old drowns at Florida home

ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene just after midday to find a group of people attempting to perform CPR on the toddler.

As summer approaches, swimming pools begin to draw children like moths to a flame. However, when not in use, they pose an all year round safety risk.

The community was given a tragic reminder of that ever-present danger when a three-year-old girl died after falling into a pool on Wednesday, 7 October.

ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene just after midday to find a group of people attempting to perform CPR on the toddler. They were unable to resuscitate the little girl at the scene and she was subsequently rushed to hospital under advanced life support.

“CPR was continued all the way to the hospital and inside. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the little girl’s vital signs rapidly diminished. Sadly, she was declared dead shortly afterwards,” stated ER24 Communications Officer, Russel Meiring.

Unfortunately, neither the Florida Community Policing Forum nor paramedics were aware of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
